A2 History - help?

Hello TSR,

I am doing A2 Level History, and whilst history is the route I want to go down (Classical Studies degree) I am struggling with the following currently in the course:

a) Remembering key dates, specific factual information and the like

b) Being able to plan an essay in five minutes; my plans tend to either be nonexistent or take almost the entire time I would have to write the essay to do, being very detailed with relevant facts (few of which I can remember). Too detailed according to my teacher

I managed an A grade at AS, and have no idea how I managed to do it. Advice from those that can do either or both of those things well would be greatly appreciated!
