Nottingham VS Surrey

Hello there I don't really know whether to pick University of Nottingham or University of Surrey. I don't live in the UK and I probably won't have the opportunity to visit the universities beforehand so I could definately use some help!!! Anything you know would be useful, location, unis, course, anything! Thanks c:

Hey. I'm a student of Surrey and I also looked at Nottingham. Distance from home played a big role in my choosing Surrey as my insurance choice rather than Nottingham (needless to say I didn't get into my firm :frown:). I really liked the small campus actually; it felt quite personal and friendly, plus Guildford itself is lovely and so so posh. If you really like posh England, then come to Surrey. Also the course was more enjoyable at Surrey in my opinion (English and Creative Writing). May I ask what you are studying?

Surrey is really good for psychology, probably better than Nottingham in that respect. It just depends on if you like larger campuses (Nottingham does have some pretty buildings, but some really ugly ones too) or smaller ones (Surrey is mainly yellowish coloured brick, not bad really for a new uni). Good luck :u:

No, my firm was Birmingham. I got one grade higher in English (A*) than my offer, but one grade lower for Politics and they wouldn't budge :s-smilie:

Depends on what you want. Nottingham is a Russel Group uni so an advantage for Nottingham in prestige. But Surrey is also ranked high, and it's the course and what you wanna do is what's most important as they are both good and respected unis.

Like, is the course different for both of your offers?

Nottingham is in the North, it is cheaper, Surrey is in Guilford which is in the South, not far from London and is expensive. But if you want to go to London Surrey is better. They both have great nightlife but London would probably be better.

I was VERY impressed with Surrey on the applicant day. Their methods of teaching and the courses there are fantastic. I'd recommend it, but it really depends on what you want.
