My ex boyfriend broke up with me nearly 6 months ago. We went through a period of no contact for a few months but now the hurt feelings have gone on both sides we have reopened communication. He keeps contacting every weekend saying that he hopes I'm having a good weekend and wishes me the best. He has done this every single weekend for about 6 weeks now. Sometimes he randomly sends me a youtube video or link to something within the week as well but the conversation never carries on. I know he is seeing someone else now and seems happy with her so why keep contacting me without any intent to carry on the conversation?

He's jus playing games to see if your still around. Just ignore it and don't let it get to you and start overthinking.

If he was genuinely interested in being friends/getting back together, he'd continue the conversation. The fact that he's repeatedly interacting with you and then ditching the conversation suggests all he's trying to do is make it difficult for you to forget about him. Which is a *****y thing to do.

Do yourself a favour - stop replying to him. He'll get the message sooner or later.

Nostalgia, plus keeping an iron in the fire. You'll probably end up married with 6 kids.

    Ha! Sarcasm at its finest...
I do hope not. I no longer have any romantic feelings for him.

He constantly keeps asking if I'm okay and says 'I'm happy if you are' and generally seems more bothered about my feelings than his own when I ask him how he is. Surely this isn't still guilt?! So many months have passed since our break up now.

Could be a sign of guilt...
