For context, I did both A level drama and BTEC acting over ten years ago now. Have been looking at different syllabi tonight as a bit of light reading for a trainee teacher.

A level syllabi really know how to suck the fun out of studying drama. For AQA they stipulate which plays can be studied from a tiny list of options. Edexcel is a bit better because some of the practical assessment must be based on delivering a monologue which I think provides excellent scope for learners to show what they can do independently. Still though, A level is so freaking rigid! Seriously kids, do BTEC It's a million times more versatile and provides far more opportunity to explore the subject in depth and with passion. Gah!

(Ditto A level music vs BTEC music for all the above reasons).

My phraseology of my opinion is quite outspoken I suppose but still.
