I was so sure when I chose it in the beginning that I will be able to do this but when the term started i started becoming lazy, not wanting to do the assignments and all. I got my results and man they are so crappy, I don't know what to do. Is it too late to turn it around in the second semester or should I just give up and study something else?

Starting university in itself is a big change, and that can reflect on your mental and physical state; what you perceive as laziness might be some alternative issue. Do you feel sad a lot? Or unfocused?

Other than that I think stick with it for a while longer, and if you really don't like it (and grades don't improve) ask to transfer to another programme or start the year over. Unless you're doing a 4 year course, your Student Finance enables you to do one extra year in cases like this.
