opinions pls. I'm not really sure. everyone is telling me to go for it but it would mean going against some very worthy candidates. I feel like I'm not in the same league as them??

Definitely go for it! You have absolutely nothing to lose by doing it, and if everyone is telling you to, then that to me shows you are a very worthy candidate yourself. It's such a great thing to do, the experience of applying will be worthwhile, and even if you don't get it, there might be other opportunities for positions of responsibility that you get as a result. So definitely, definitely go for it! Good luck!

Feeling like you aren't good enough is a very common but dangerous way of thinking. The people you are going against are merely people like you. There is nothing about them that makes them better than you. Any differences can be made up for.

It's important to remember that there is always going to be someone better than you. However that doesn't mean you can't strive to improve. The issue here is your lack of confidence. Other people have said you should run so why not? What have you actually got to lose? At worst you waste a bit of time and don't get it. But on the other hand is that really a waste? If it boosts your confidence then why not?

You are just as worthy as anyone else. If you want it, go for it.
