Does anyone know if you have to declare 'spent' conviction in graduate retail schemes? I know in NHS they have DBS and it will show up.
I know for normal jobs, they do a basic check where spent convictions don't show up but is it different in graduate level for retail?

It really will depend on the job and the company. In some cases they will do a DBS check in some cases they may just ask you and in some they may not care. Don't let that hold you back but don't lie or withhold info as that can be detrimental to your application.

If it's spent, it won't hinder your job offer anyway, as it's illegal for them to withdraw an offer on this basis.
(Typically, checks are done post-offer.)
Of course certain industries are except from the Rehabilitation of Offenders act (such as banking & professional services) so it's worth keeping this in mind.
