The highest grade you can get at AS is an A.. Check with your exam board on their website or with your teacher the requirements for getting an A* because it may also be as you said +90% on both A2 papers apart from the UMS. I don't do CIE so I can't give you an answer.

I don't know about cie Biology but for most subjects it is possible. I know theoretically in MEI maths you can get an A* if you got a B in AS as long as you get 90%+.
Also I know someone who got a C in AQA geography AS but got an A* in A2

Yeah..but CIE may be different from the other exam boards....in our school they told us that you can get an A* only if u got an A* or a high A in AS...else it's difficult...thank you so much though

    There's no A* at AS-level.

You need to average 80% across all papers, and 90% in the A2 papers.

Sorry I meant to say your raw mark should be 85% and above for a person to get an A* in A2...that is what we were told.

So I just have to get an average of 90% in both paper 4 and paper 5 in biology to get an A* overall?

Yes, if you get 121/120 in one of your papers.
