I'm choosing my a levels and my school have said I can't do biology because I didn't do double award science or gcse biology. I'm really annoyed about this, I was looking forward to doing biology so I don't see what the big issue is just cause I done single award at gcse. Is there anyway I change their minds and persuade them to let me do it?

i think its not necessarily the school thats saying no but its the exam board, i'm doing aqa a level biology and i know that aqa requires a minimum of a B in single and additional science. so maybe try asking someone like a teacher at your school on what you can do to do an additional science(double award) gcse or maybe look for another sixthform/college

It is quite normal for schools to require a minimum of double science from anyone who wants to take any science at A level. If you have only done single award the gap to A level is huge and experience tells them that success is unlikely. You could try a different school or college to see if their requirements are less strict or you could ask if there is anything up you can do over the summer so you can come back and prove you are capable of success and then ask for a trial study period when sixth form starts.
