Im currently in year 12 studying psychology, biology and chemistry. In my past few exams i have excelled in psychology and i absolutely love the subject but i am consistently getting E's in chemistry and most worryingly a U in biology. Im not enjoying the sciences any more and feel lost..i don't want to continue with them any longer and I'm considering resitting year 12. I have been told that if i don't finish my AS year i will be unable to do psychology again in another college, is this true?
Thank you for all your help

So Psychology isn't a problem - in fact it's going great. At least that's good news!

It's not clear where these low grades in Biology and Chemistry are coming from - mocks? Tests?

I guess there are some questions you need to answer before you make any big decisions:

    - are the low marks the result of lack of understanding, poor technique, lack of preparation?
    - what feedback are you getting from your teachers? Is it pointing to specific areas where you need to improve?
    - are you not enjoying the two subjects because you're not doing well or do you genuinely not like the content?
    - are you generally happy at the college?
    - have you spoken about these problems to subject teachers or a tutor?

Talking to teachers seems an absolute must.

If your low grades are the result of things you can put right then there's still time to put them right. Maybe your motivation and enjoyment will increase if you start doing well??

Let us know how it all goes. Good luck!

a part of why I'm feeling so low is because I'm putting so much work in and still not coming out with good grades..I literally couldn't try any harder. Ive spoken to my teachers and a few have said the same thing, maybe the new style of a level isn't for me :/ I've emailed another college and I'm looking at going into childcare there in September and hopefully becoming a teacher. Wish me luck!

OK,it must be very dispiriting to work so hard for so little reward.

Make sure you check that there is a route from the childcare course into teaching.

Wishing you the best of luck.
