So in a few hours the admissions tutor will phone me up for a 10 minute session, its to ask about the degree program and just general knowledge about the uni, not sure if interview was the right word for the title lol. But I've been rejected by them, yet they still sent me an email telling me they've booked a phone call session. I don't know what I'm supposed to say. What should I say? Help please.

there may still be a chance of an offer, otherwise they wouldn't waste their time phoning you. use the 10 minutes to make them think they made the wrong decision when they turned you down...

    But to be serious:

    1. Gird yourself for the possibility that this is only statistics gathering "how did you find the process?" "Is there anything that SOAS could do to improve its applications/online prospectus?"

    2. Be ready for them to offer you a place on another course, one that obviously is less appealing to you (you didn't apply for it) but which as well has proven to have less appeal more generally. You don't have to make a decision now and nothing that you say on the phone is binding.

    3. This might be your second bite at the cherry. If it is, then you can anticipate:
    • Why do you want to to do this course?
    • What first prompted your interest in [Swahili with International Development]?
    • Which modules most appeal? (be ready to name them: go back to the prospectus now)
    • How do you see a degree from SOAS as likely to affect your future career?
