Was wondering if anybody else since starting puberty has had severe acne. Throughout school and college i've never had completely clear skin.. and it's quite draining i've tried so many things to reduce it and make myself feel confident again. Can anybody relate to this or have an tips and advice because it's starting to affect my everyday life now because it knocks me confidence a lot. I've been to the doctors at least 10 times and they haven't fixed it.

Been there, totally understand how you're feeling but here are some important things i learned.

    Greatest advice on clearing acne:

    1) Stop using all face washes and facial scrubs...if you have acne prone skin this often makes it worse and causes breakouts. Just stick to using antibacterial soaps/sensitive skin soaps.

    2) Use topical creams/moisturizers for sensitive skin (non greasy, and something that stops itching). E45 itch relief tends to be quite good but they are a whole host of other creams.

    3) Take anti-biotics. Doxycycline for about 1-2months and do a full course this will kill of acne causing bacteria from your system (for some people it even clears it completely). If you do take these anti-biotics make sure you eat a good meal before hand it will make you ill if you don't and you'll be throwing up if you don't eat.

    4) Don't wash your face more than twice a day, the less you touch/wash your skin the less problematic it will be.

    5) Last but not least once you have tried all of the above just keep patient...the scars will heal with time and your face will clear. Stop buying expensive creams etc. I hope this helps

Literally understand you! I have been trying to get rid of my acne for more than 7 years now and nothing worked. I tried literally everything from over the counter products to face masks to skin whitening cream.
Have you been to your doctor? I was prescribed oral antibiotics and duac and it's worked really well. If you want, roaccutane is a last resort and because my skin isn't sensitive at all I was given this and it has worked really well. However, it's only a last resort and the side effects are pretty bad
But I would just say, for now be patient. I understand it's hard and it really does effect your self-confidence but just avoid touching your face and ensure your face isn't too oily (which was hard for me)

Go dairy free and you'll see immediate improvements (within a day or so). No cheese, milkshakes, ice cream, milk chocolate, coffee with cream, wheat protein and so on... If you can't live without those things, try vegan alternatives.

See your GP, but if you don't like antibiotics (which are actually quite bad for your good gut flora) then you can help by lifestyle and diet. Make sure you exercise, drink lots of water, having a fruit smoothie in the mornings helps a lot, cut out processed food and high GI foods, eat omega 3 rich for like grass-fed beef or oily fishes.
