So i have 14mm stretched ears and put in a set of teardrop stretchers today. I don't want to take them out overnight because I've only just put them in at around 1pm....but apparently you shouldn't keep them in for prolonged periods because they can cause irritation and tearing....I've had no pain yet though. So how long should i leave them in before taking them out to wash them (until they fit comfortably etc)/ heal to 14mm.

Everyone is different, so there is no magic time. But you must take them out if your ears feel hot or painful, or if they look red. It's best not to sleep in them, as you won't notice anything if you're asleep!

I'm a bit confused by your last sentence - you shouldn't use teardrops to do an actual stretch, but should only wear them when your ears are already happy and healthy at that size.

I want to be able to take the teardrops out and be able to put them back in again without them closing up or anything. They've been 14mm for 3yr ish.

You should already know that you need to keep some jewellery in for them to definitely not close up - you can go naked for short periods, but there's always the risk they'll close up if you leave it longer. You should be able to put them in easily at any point as long as your ears remain 14mm - you might have a little difficulty because you're not used to the shape, and you might need to use some jojoba oil (especially if they're wood, horn or other natural materials) to make it easier.
