Most of America has German/Irish ancestry. Only a tiny portion in Ohio and the North-East coast has British ancestry. So why do they talk our language? What's wrong with German that so many of them are betraying their ancestry to be like us?

Their official language is English, so the immigrants' children learn English at school and elsewhere, and the language gets passed down. It's similar here in Britain, I've seen people from countries such as China who don't speak a word of English but their children learn English and speak that fluently.
