Cripps Hall Questions

Ok a few questions about rooms, hopefully someone who's stayed in Cripps can help :

Is a pin board provided or not? Obviously I don't want to bring one if it's not needed!
Is the provided mirror sufficient?
What do the shared kitchenette's include?
The wattage limit in rooms I understand to be about 1400W, but most irons are about 2000W, where are we supposed to iron clothes?

Think thats most of my questions, no doubt I will remember and add more. Thanks in advance for any replies.

yes;
yes;
fridge, microwave and/or baby belling;
buy a travel iron (who irons their clothes anyway???)
The mirror depends on how vain you are... if a half length mirror is enough then you're fine.

The power limit is 1200 though I have known people to get 1800 things to work. Most blocks have an ironing board and the sockets in the corridors are unlimited so you can use those.

The kitchens vary some only have a kettle sink, microwave and small fridge freezer, some will also have a toaster and even a hob and oven.

I think some rooms have a full size mirror but mine had a sort of diamond shaped mirror made out of 4 parts though not all of them are always intact. That type of mirror is only really good for looking at your face.

yup provided. sometimes it is on the wrong side away from the table.
i would definateky advice to bring a mirror. which room type r u? if its single study then u only get a tiny one in the basin cupboard. if its shared bathroom then u have a good chance of gettin a full length mirror.
kitchenette includes pretty much everything u need. mine even had an iron and a sandwich maker.
u will be fine with the iron. i had mine own one and nobody ever said anyting. the board it provided so no worries bout that either!

may i just say u r gonna have the best time in ur life in cripps i love that place! will see you round....im karni for cripps btw :smile:

Cheers that's helpful. I'm single study. I think that just about wraps up my "to buy" list. Just a few more days to go now, can't wait! See you about maybe!

Could anyone tell me how much would a taxi from Broadmash bus station to cripps cost? I'm thinking it might be a bit tricky to take the bus (Rainbow 5) to the campus as I will be carrying a large suitcase and don't know where exactly the bus stops etc

Possibly it depends how much higher the wattage is above 1200, as i said some people managed to get 1800 watt hairdryers to work but I doubt that is true of all 1800 watt hairdryers. If you haidryer is say 1400 or 1500 it should work. You can use the sockets in the corridors if it doesn't work
