    Hi I'm currently doing a Solomon sheet. Could anyone explain to me how they would find the area under this curve.
    I found the area under the curve by intergrating y and adding the area of the triangle OQR under the curve. The solution bank has also the area of the triangle PQ.
    I will attack question and image. Any explanation as to why they have do this would be amazing. Thanks

    So you need to take it away from the integral before summing up the triangle below the x-axis and the area bounded by the curve and the line.
