How to make friends at placement

I am taking a gap year and decided to find a placement to see what its like to work in the industry. The problem is that most people at the company are 30+ and I am 18. There is only one other intern.

I was thinking that getting a room in a shared student house would be a good way to meet people, and it would be cheaper too.

If anybody has any suggestions, please tell me!!

Have you tried looking at other companies where there may be more younger people? Shared house sounds a good idea.
Bring cake, that always works.
