You could plan, design, implement and test a small software package that records stock levels at a point in time, then tracks purchases from suppliers and sales to customers to keep a running total of all items.
You will need to create a database (use Access or mysql or any other DBMS) to create perhaps tables for products, customers, suppliers, manufacturers with appropriate relationships and the right referential integrity where necessary, and connect it to a GUI using a connector (e.g. JDBC if you are coding in java). The GUI should have classes related to each table, together with DBA (database access) objects.
Follow an apropriate software development cycle so that you can write an impressive report following the principles of a software engineering project.
