The 2017 Oxford Decisions Discussion Thread

The dates of the report are actually 5th Jan - 3rd Feb; hopefully we'll be running this every Monday for the previous week / month. But Jack was too excited to wait til Monday for another weeks data so it's a bit out of date!

Number of times repped - a helpful answer could get a rep from a new user with 0 points and that's just as important to recognise
Cool. Completely agree about that. If anything I'm happier to get the newbie reps than those from the old hands.

    Hi Jen

Are there any plans to make a "who repped me the most" graph like we do for a "who quoted me the most"?

That's a development issue I'm afraid, so that would be up to Captain Jack

    Cool data.

Just wish you guys would be more transparent about # of users banned or # of user accounts created per week etc.

Suppose the latter is whats important to your business but still

Interesting - some of these are entirely predictable, whereas a couple are from users whose posts I don't think I've ever seen!
    UWS well done!
    How are they predictable?

I can only imagine how much data you have. (And how much data I have created directly and indirectly for you to sell to advertisers :shakecane: )

I wonder what a map of subforums would look like here. Its always interesting when a study is done on Reddit's subreddits (although that is probably an easier task on Reddit).
    http://www.jacobsilterra.com/subredd...ork/index.html
    https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeaut...orhoods_based/
    https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeaut...oods_based_on/
Each forum (and sub-fora) could be a connected blob sized according to the number of threads (or posts (or posters)). Weekly (or Monthly) data, with a slider to go back in time.

    How are they predictable?
insomuch as those users who create threads which have a lot of views (like UWS) are likely to receive a fair amount of rep - they're going to be the more active users on the site, and UWS also has over a 100 followers. More followers = more reps.

    I was more thinking:
    For each forum
-Take the last 100 created threads
    -Look at the authors
-See where else the author has posted, and how many threads (or comments) they have created in other forums
-Do some magic graph stuff to connect the forums according to common thread creators, and place them in a 2D space where distance is inversely proportional to some metric of common posters
Oh that sounds good. Have you seen the linkedin connection maps? It used to be a thing, but I'm not sure if they still have it. Connections were colour coded and collected according to employer.
