I am a 19 years old lad living in Cardiff moved here from Wigan for uni. Everyone told me I would meet loads of people at uni and meet girls. Another myth is that at uni your class will go out at least twice a month and your uni will organize a night out twice a month too and this has never happened??> It is a joke I thought I was going to meet loads of people at uni from my class and then from other classes on nights out. Does anyone have similar experience or if not what is your uni like and how is it better? Cardiff is actually a great uni I love my course just the social life is no fun. What can I do?

When I was a undergraduate I started making friends by talking about the work with people. I started to click with people. This might lead to coffee breaks after we get screwed over by a mini-test or a piece of assessed coursework.

Now during my masters I made friends with the people in my lab by randomly talking to them over time.

You just got to try and initiate conversations over a period of time.
