I've only been in Norwich a few times, but I quite liked it. One of the main reasons I've decided to go there. Film? There's a few cinemas...? As for music and sports, big enough artists sometimes play at the UEA, and there's the sports park thing at the university. Sea side, well, a friend of mine lives in Great Yarmouth, which is about half an hour away by train. Although he says it's just infested by chavs. As for odd stuff, well, I saw some fairly odd people in the city centre, such as Puppet Man and the sort, but I heard he "retired"?

It is a decent place, it feels a lot safer than some of the larger cities. Also it still has a unique vibe to it. It's one of the top 10 shopping cities in the UK.

There's an odeon and a Vue cinema. But there's also Cinema City which shows more world cinema.

UEA has excellent sports facilities, all discounted heavily to the students. (Olympic pool, track, gym - all sorts)

There's a market and lots of little small shops aswell as the big ones.

The sea side resorts of cromer, sherringham, great yarmouth and lowestoft are all not far by train and really cheap to get to.

Norwich is a really nice city, and a hell of a lot closer to the seaside than London. Plenty going on here.

The International Development course is very highly regarded. Not sure if that's the same as Development Studies.

Im applying to do International Development studies! did you go to the open day?.. It would of been very worthwhile if you wanted to find out about Norwich and get a feel for the place!!

Okay, the run down;

The LCR gets really good acts in, Sarah Millican was killer and as stated before we are getting Russel HOWARD. I don't think stand up is much of an issue.

Film wise the Union does film nights like a cinema, getting films that aren't too new but aren't out on DVD yet. Bette than cinema really if you consider you can bring your own sweets. ;P But it was Toy Story 3 last Friday, and Girl with a dragon tattoo the night before. Not too shabby really. Cinema in town if you want newer films.

Music is like the comedy, honestly. We generally get the acts that aren't the big names YET but are going to be. We've had Marina and the diamond, etc.

Sports, well, we the countries largest sports park and a jumble of sports societies. Check the UEA Union page for a list if you like.

Sea side... Moving on.

Odd stuff?! The place is amazing! Campus has a few of the quaint essentials like food shops, restaurants and Waterstones. The city? A poly-neuro-linguisticical masterpiece! The shops go from large brands (TKMaxx, Sports Direct, River Island, M&S, etc) to really small amazing shops, with little chocolate shops that sell BLOCKS of chocolate. Not pieces. BLOCKS.

But I'm too bothered, obviously.

First of all the universitey is MILES away from the city and bus routes are terrible (in london you can get a bus in 5min after 12 in norwich you have to waite 30min and then another 10min in the bus as the driver sits and waits for more passengers to some. The UFO shop on campus that sells foods/snacks is OVERPRICED, its more expensive then london. Norwich city is full of alleyways and side roads and steep roads. The selection of shops in comprisoen to london is ****. You got basic M&S,topman, primark, house of fraiser other then that thiere is not much varietey in shopping. The norwich exlusive shops sell stuff tha is nothing speciol so locel shops are not that great. The LCR does have realey good artit ceom through but the sound system in the LCR is terrible. Make you wish you had earplugs. The bars are also VERY expensive and what you would consider as a single shot in londen is what here in norwich they consider a double shot hence charge you much more. I would suggest staying in london. london is the place to be

I was in the World's end last week... two jaegerbombs cost me £9. Last time I went out in norwich I got four for £10. if anyone says Norwich costs the same as london you either have never been out in London properly OR you have only ever been drinking in the most expensive bars in Norwich. Our most expensive bars are about the same price as your average london one.

on another note, in london a single shot can ONLY be either 25ml or 35ml, same as Norwich. If the bars you go to give you more and call it a single they're breaking the law.

The shops are good, generally london has more variety but then it has more than pretty much every place in the country. The buses are a pain but you can always cycle and there are plenty of buses which at least keep running all night (Unlike certain tube lines I have discovered)

Music and event wise, yes, we have lots of things going on here but again, all bands that play here and any other city almost always will play london as well, I often find myself going between here, home (Bristol), London and sometimes Nottingham type areas or Scotland.
