    Hi,
Does anybody have a clear insight as to how important GCSEs are for uni?

I completed compulsory education in the republic of Ireland, gaining 7 Cs in higher level, Irish junior cert. I moved to England and gained a D*D*D (A*A*A equivalent) in a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.

Delighted with my results, i felt confident in applying to universities however, it has come to my attention that Irish Junior certs are not recognized by English universities who generally require a C in GCSE maths and English which i don't have; i was under the impression that my Irish junior certs would be equivalent.

Has anybody else had a similar issue? i'm worried that i won't get into uni with strong A-level equivalents, yet no GCSEs..
Has anybody got into well established unis with poor GCSEs and strong A-levels ???? Thanks..
