I really don't think so. You said:

So I quoted the bit where I gave you a legitimate argument.
And I said, you can't try to ridicule someone then expect them to listen to anything you say. So drop it.

So in other words you're annoyed that there's a commercialised holiday out there that doesn't cater specifically for you?
Not really. Holidays should be for everyone don't you think?

Guess we'd better start bashing Eid and various countries' independence days then.

Can't walk up the high street without seeing valentine's day everywhere. Can't walk into a shop that doesn't have a valentine's day display. It's madness. Why can't couples just celebrate it in private without bothering everyone else lol. Can't even go on Google without being reminded of it. Or anywhere else on the internet for that matter.
Miserable would be an understatement who cares do you complain when shops start advertising Christmas stuff? No.

Simply ignore it and stop moaning.

I can enjoy other holidays without having a significant other. It's pretty hard to do that with valentine's Day which is only for people in relationships really.
I can't exactly ignore it either. You go into a shop and the front display is fully dedicated to st valentine's. It's a meaningless commercial holiday.
Mother's Day and Father's Day are only for mothers and fathers respectively. Not to mention if you are celibate and have no interest in relationships then it makes little sense for you to care about being unable to celebrate Valentines. That's like complaining that you can't celebrate Mother's Day because you're male (or vice versa) and don't have children. You're complaining that you can't celebrate something that isn't aimed at you. Not to mention it's your personal choice.

Yes, it is a largely meaningless commercial holiday that nowadays largely exists for stores to make money. It's no different to something like Black Friday, the affore mentioned parents days and so on. Even things like Christmas and Easter are largely used as promotional stands to get more sales or specific products. Thing is though how is this causing you any issues? Sure, you might not be able to go into a store without seeing these things. But how does this prevent you from going about your daily life? You see some boxes of chocolates and stuffed toys on a plinth at the front of a store. Great, walk past it and go buy whatever you were in the store for.

You're putting an awful lot of effort into hating something that ultimately isn't aimed at you (because celibate) and really has no impact on your daily life. The entire premise is incredibly petty. The fact that you obviously do care so much suggests a deeper problem.

Uh why? Christmas is for Christians (insert any other religious holiday here), Mothers/Fathers days are for parents, Halloween is really for kids and so on.

You can choose to celebrate any holiday you want, which is why so many non-religious people will still celebrate things like Christmas and Easter. Not all couples will celebrate valentines, plenty of single people will celebrate valentines.

Holidays are for anyone that chooses to celebrate them. The holiday itself generally exists to celebrate something specific, which largely isn't applicable to everyone. For example Christmas is supposed to celebrate the birth of Jesus but has evolved in a way that means anyone can choose to celebrate it. I wouldn't say I celebrate Christmas because I don't care about the religion behind it. But it's still a holiday. It's still time off work, a chance for good food, presents, family, etc.

Why do you think we don't tend to celebrate Independence Day or Thanksgiving? Because they are largely American holidays. As such anyone can celebrate any holiday they want.

In all fairness I see far more complaints about Christmas than any other holiday. Largely along the lines of "it's only Septmeber, why are Christmas things in stores?"

If anything I'd say advertising things way too early (Christmas in Septmeber, Easter eggs around New Years, etc.) is a bigger annoyance than some minor holiday that doesn't cater to everyone.

I don't mind Valentines day. Most of the time I just go out with friends! You guys should too. Keep yourselves surrounded by positive energy!
Yeah a vast majority of my mates live long way away or in another country now.

For the same reason I hate Christmas. I don't hate Christmas or Valentines day per se... I hate these holidays because of the "expectations". They have become commercialized. The ads are geared towards - If you don't do this, you aren't worth anything. They don't say it in those words, but they say it back-handed.

Every year I hear of single people that intend to get together and go to the pub, or just generally do something as a group of single people. Non-Christians celebrate Christmas right? Why is this so difficult to understand?

So the 50 weeks of the year or so that Valentines isn't advertised? Are you saying that you are only moaning because you walk into shops and see hearts? And that this irks you enough to make a thread and complain on TSR?
