You sound like my mum
Lol. It's still easily affordable on the £3k loan if you work over the vacations. Just unfair that some are paying £1.6k (Exeter, Johns) some £3.4k for a year for similar accommodation.

Yep, I agree. I don't get this, how come so many people are getting tons of help from their parents AND large loans + grants...

I'm not getting any help from family.

Bah, you'll all be fine provided you earn some cash rather than sit on UKL all day over the vacations.

Outgoing:
Accom (3k) + Tuition (~1k) + Food & drink (1k) + Whatever else (1k) = 6k
Incoming:
Loan (3k) + vacation job (at least 3k) = 6k

And you should have an overdraft of over 1k to dip into.

We need those rich OAP's that you always see in America with an 18 year old . That will sort out the money problem.

Well i've got some money saved from the six months i worked during this year, and i'll work during the summer. I don't want to use an overdraft facility if i don't have to.

Money is still gonna be tight though! But then thats the life of a student.

I'm still looking for a sugar daddy if anyone is offering...

Tuition Fee?
Oops I knew I'd missed something off.

Well make vacation earnings 3k then. It said in EduGrauniad two days ago that the average university student earns £4,000 a year with paid employment.

Hmmm South but outside London is rough on £3,000.

Though if you went for income assessed, then anything not totally £4,095 is supposed to be contributed by the parents, as well as the tuition fee contribution.

I've said before, that after accomodation comes out, this year I'll have to live, self catered for the year on £1,200 - which is pretty damn tough.
