Edexcel A2 History coursework question helpWatch
Just quoting in Fox Corner so she can move the thread if needed
I'm trying to come up with a question about witchcraft during the 15th-17th century, I like the idea of looking at who was hunted (something along the lines of 'to what extent were those of lower social standing hunted more than those higher up in the contemporary society of the time' but i don't know if this is too vague?! Any help would be massively appreciated right now hahaha
"Historians have disagreed about the reasons for European Witch Hunting in the period 1540-1680. What is your view about the role played by [INSERT FOCUS HERE] in the dramatic rise and spread of trials across the Continent?
With reference to three chosen works:
- analyse the ways in which interpretations of the causes of the witchcraze differ
- explain the differences you have identified
- evaluate the arguments, indicating which you found most persuasive and explaining your judgements.
- make use of supplementary reading as appropriate."
This is based on the structure given in the specification. Judging by your idea, I'd say your focus would be socio-economic. Your question HAS to make reference to historians etc. Your question is too vague, as you have to use different historians theories and interpretations across a wide range of subjects, i.e gender, religious divisions etc. Reading the specification should really help you out.
