Thats what Im planning on doing! The MSc in wild animal heath run at london zoo and whipsnade by RVC and ZSL?
At first I was like 'oh yeah horse vet all the way' but since my other placements ive been considering a bit of everything! I love exotics too. And Id like to do neurology or the heart. Specialising in surgery sounds so exciting too!
Once I've qualified I'm not sure where I'll end up cos like people have said, theres so many doors that are open to you in vet med and things like zoo vet and safari vet abroad sound amazing. All I do know (and I dont even know that for certain!) is that I'd like to start my career in a mized practice to get the optimum experience so I can find out what I like doing best. Mixed isnt on the poll so I just put small animals but I was torn between small, farm and equine!
Yeah thats the one! i hear its really competitve though, so i might get some experince before i apply to it

I've really got no definate field I want to do; exotics does seem fun and interesting but there must be less placements for it. Personally I'm not deciding on any field now as I'm sure that going through vet school I'll learn so much more and probably change my mind x million times, from the work experience I've done so far though I probably found mixed vet practice the ideal for me, I just love the variety.

The work experience I enjoyed most was mixed veterinary work.
However, a huge number of people do seem to specialise now - as one of the vets said to me, "Jack of all trades, master of none".
Mixed includes sheep as well as small animals and horses too right?

If I could I'd love to do some game work in africa. Spent a month working with a vet in South africa and it was amazing, but I wouldn't be able to cope with the small animal side of things in africa and I don't know how easy it would really be to do. Conservation interests me but also is a bit of a hard area. I loved my mixed work experience. Although Orthapedics or maybe soft tissue surgery sounds great too. I guess I'm pretty undecided right now although Africa is where I really see myself.
I used to like that programme about vets in south africa a few months ago!
