I think they look quite ugly tbh

I think the Toyota Aygo is the best looking of those 3 cars, but I can also think of plenty of better things to spend £7000 on!

My driving instructor has one, brand new. I really like it to drive even though they do look pretty ugly (hers is black, so not so ugly) i especially think the gear box is nice

My mum and dad suggested a 107 (getting a car for my 21st) but i dont like the shape that much. Too squashed and C1 ish :p: The front looks ok but the back looks funny. But if you like the shape then go for it. Cheap road tax too - i think it was £35 a year plus they are good for the environment!

pfffft that's second hand mondeo with full leather money!

(also with the reference to the "C1 ish" quote, you will find they are the same car, same with the aygo)

The Aygo looks slightly different.

I knew the C1 and 107 were similar but they look identical. Are they literally the same car but just re-badged?

i have a 107 =] i think its really cute =]

although sometimes i find the gears kinda difficult, and the seat isnt hight ajustable, which is irriating for us short people =[, and the boot is really small, eg a school bag, small ish sports bag, few ringbinders and the odd little bit and its full

but for such a small car its actually fairly big inside, enough room for 2 adults in the back, although it doesnt have a middle seat =/

its uber cheap to run thou, and its good for the enviroment

i had this one over the aygo/c1 because it has the option of curtain airbags [around 200 extra i think] because my dad was insistant i had these, and the other two dont have the option.

i have the blue one, and mine is named marmaduke [haha lame i know] but i think overall for the money its a good buy i would deff recommend it

although i would say the aygo is prob cuter

The C1/107/Toyota Aygo are exactly the same car with different styling/badges. They're made in the same factory and were a joint design between PSA (Peugeot Citroen) and Toyota. The standard petrol engine is a Toyota 3 cylinder unit widely praised by the press with good fuel economy and performance.

The diesel (found only in the french models) is a Peugeot Citroen Unit widely criticised by the press for being far too slow and miserly in the C1/107 (In the C2 and other cars it's fine, but they tuned it down when they moved it across and it therefore outputs less power than the petrol).

They're built down to a price and designed to be a budget cit car so don't expect world changing quality. Supposed to be good fun to drive in a small city car kind of way, ride might be a little bumpy what with the short wheelbase. The Engine should be bombproof and reasonable fun, being Toyota built. None of them are especially good looking but they're tiny and they cram a lot in. The 5 door with doors that go all the way back to the rear lights is pretty innovative.

The Citroen C1 is supposed to be the budget version, a little less kit with a lower price.
The Peugeot 107 is the "sporty" version, no difference in performance but alloys and the likes are free or cheap addons.
The Toyota Aygo is the kit laiden one with the Toyota badge for slightly better resale values.

Don't bother buying a brand new 107, buy one with around 3000 miles on the clock. This will be run in so that you can drive it properly and more importantly should cost around £5000. One of if not the best city car on the market today, if you buy one it should hold its value very well.

we have like, 10 of the C1 versions as our courtesy cars. if i can avoid driving one, i will.

i just think they are ugly. i hate the interior, the orange back lighting looks tacky, and if you get one with a rev metre on, then ew, whats the point? it looks like a total afterthought.
in the C1s, you get no glove box, just a hole... i don't think i've ever been in a 107, and i can't remember on the Aygo.

if all you want is something that is cheap and cheerful, and does go like a bat out of hell, then go for it. yes, the tax is £35 a year, it's either an A or B on the emissions, and does a rediculous amount of MPG. my mate at work has one and he only has to fill up £40 a month and that'll last him.

and yes, never ever get a new one.

1.4 HDI, a remap and a new turbo please :p:

^ Would need a serious remap. The thing only has 55bhp! And it weighs 90kg more than the small petrol.

I beleive its the same block thats used in other PSA and Ford models, so it should be capeable of a fair amount more grunt. Kia have a 1.5 turbo diesel giving 110bhp from stock, so 100bhp can't be difficult to ahceive from the 1.4. given time and turbos.

It is indeed, but I have to assume they detuned it for a reason. It's a decent motor in the C2, 70bhp with 65mpg combined (compared to 68 in the C1) and the gains from detuning it really aren't worthwhile (very slightly better fuel consumption) so perhaps there isn't enough space for the 1.4 unit in it's normal form. Or maybe the transmission can't cope with the torque, being designed for a small petrol. Probably just cost cutting in line with it being a budget car. Enough money and I'm sure it could be modified.

Ins't it sad though though modifying what is basically a cheap car anyway? If you're into that sort of thing buy a Fiat 500.
Reply 16
You have a point. But then again cheap normally = light, lacking in excess. The CAygo107 (getting bored of naming every variant ) is praised for its chassis and handling, why not see what you can do with it. Fiat 500 is a Panda in drag, you'd save a lot of money simply modifying the Panda.
