I suppose if you have a ******* store manager than that would hold some sway. But I'd presume your mate could have just handed in his notice? Unless he'd developed a degree of loyalty to Tesco's lol!

I work in a small Tesco supermarket. Eg it doesn't sell clothes, TVs and stuff like that. It only employs 150 people, and takes what in Tesco's terms in a tiny £400k a week.
Yeh - he did hand it in, in the end. He needed the money though, so that's what kept him there and he doesn't complain a lot. Various people had to tell him to quit for ages! He's working at Toys 'R' Us now.

There's a Sainsbury's Local near to school, and quite a few gap year people tend to work there - and get pestered relentlessly for **** and booze from 14 year olds!

I suppose the good thing about people working from my p.o.v is using the discounts of other people! 40% off comes in handy when you need some new football boots or whatever else.

Hello!
I was sitting on my till in Tesco's tonight serving a customer when something caused me to look up from the till and glance down the alcohol aisle. I saw two guys, one older and one younger. One guy was looking at me as I was the only Tesco employee liable to look up and see them, and the other was trying to get a selection of alcopops into his pockets. Once the boy watching me knew they'd been caught, they picked up a basket and tried to buy the stuff. They came to my till, and to be a obnoxious ******* I ID'ed the older guy even though he looked about 25. He didn't have any ID, and the security guard who I'd already called kindly escorted them away without any booze... hehe.

It made my day.

What's it like in Brunei? I heard that you didn't have to pay income tax and most people had a BMW/Merc. Also you are not allowed to have yellow things as that is the Sultan's own colour?
Is the quality of life good over there then?

*gasps and collapses*

Congrats on busting the shoplifters, we get an awful lot at Sainsbury's but all they'd have to do would be to wait outside and drag you around the small alley near the store and beat the living hell out of you. It's always funny when townies who are blatently underage come up to my till and try to buy Breezers doing their best to lower their voices to the point where they sound like kermit the frog doing opera.

I once had someone practically scream at me when we didn't have some Hovis Best of Both bread and I just sighed and walked off. It's BREAD! What do you expect me to do, just make some appear out of thin air!? Pick up another type you crotch pheasant!
