OCR A2 Unit 3: Similarities and Differences of events

In our responses to the thematic questions OCR asks students to COMPARE events over the 100 yrs.
This involves showing WHAT events are similar or different to each other and WHY.
I don't understand how I'm meant to integrate similarities and differences in History responses...like, what do those even mean in this context??
I'm supposing the 'WHY' involves supporting evidence but still it's confusing as to WHAT is actually being asked of us and HOW to do this.
