This sort of behaviour has been going on for a while now, the news just doesn't tend to leave Sweden.

Videos don't lie. Most of the rubbish you get in a feeble attempt to put Trump down comes from pathetic left wing fake news sites. Your motto should be never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

The Daily Mail has actually been banned as a source for Wikipedia

Daily Mail is FAKE NEWS!

We have been over this.

It was politically inspired snowflakery on Wiki's part, a site which allows Russia Today as a source.

The Daily Mail is arguably the best ( and certainly the most influential) newspaper in Fleet Street.

The BBC and Grauniad THINK they drive the agenda, but really it is the Mail. Tory Prime
Ministers are terrified of Paul Dacre...

That has bearing on whether it is true or not. Their views on global warming and science in general for example would get them nowhere in academia even if they are good for popular consumption.

So we agree. The horrors were not communism if they exist in such a none communist country as well. :qed:

I don't catch that reference. Is it something to do with the US?

Nope, they still suffer from the horrors of communism as it has had a lasting effect, after WW2 germany suffered from fascism ever though they were not fascist

They are no less reliable as a news source than any other media outlet. Whenever you know anything about any subject and read about it or see it discussed in the broadcast media it is invariably wrong.

The daily mail is a deliberately misleading news source. It hasn't reported a single legal decision, appeal or principle correctly in two years of study (they actually consistently get basic points of law wrong to the point I can't even read it for an alternate view on high profile cases because they don't actually understand what is going on) and famously included children and housewives in its 'look how many migrants are unemployed' piece which then commented on benefits scrounging and 'burdening' the economy despite many coming from taxpaying households. Influential, yes. Accurate, no.

It does bemuse me that people defend news sites such as CNN (seriously their lying by omission is crazy, there are so many examples), the guardian (have you seen its opinion segments?!) and even the independent relied on incorrect or questionable studies (see the 1/5 campus rape myth which even the study itself said was not (a) hugely accurate, or (b) indicative of wider reality and therefore shouldn't be used to draw general assessments) - too much of our media is total rubbish. What happened to the investigate reporting, the robust storytelling, the stories that don't fit the general narratives, the alternate fact based views and generally a high standard overall - half the reports I see now are about a twitter craze or some stupid idiot holding up a motorway by driving their mobility scooter onto it. Where are the challenges to the establishment? The deep research on sensitive topics to edify the reader? Journalism needs to redefine its standards.

I agree with you. If you look at my response to CB later in the thread you will see that I too despair at the entire newspaper and broadcast media. That is why I find the left wing demonisation of the Mail laughable.

Whenever you know about any subject in any specialist detail a media outlet discussing it will always be wrong.

That's exactly my indictment - want to comment on a legal issue? Hire someone with a law qualification or phone one to ask their perspective. Want to comment on medicinal practices? Phone the medical practices commission (or whatever it may be called) or failing that the head of the NHS or even just a ask a qualified doctor. Too much BS is being presented as fact because the writer either has an agenda, hasn't assessed the full range of evidence, has jumped on a hot topic for clickbait, or simply doesn't understand the field to which they refer. This is true of media on all sides.

edit - and crucially be critical of their opinion. Judges learned to be critical of expert testimony in Bolitho, which was around 20 years ago I believe (remembering the dates isn't my strong point) and journalists/media figures should do the same.

Sweden is simply enjoying the joys of mass immigration from barbaric third world countries.

The left will lie about this as they lied about Rotherham and Cologne.

Unfortunately for the left, no one but the most deluded trust the MSM.

Sorry chaps, but the cat is well and truly out of the bag.

Brexit and Trump didn't happen by accident, normal people have had enough.
