what the hell is going on. 19 years old, suddenly I'm getting red patches on my face and a few spots on my chin. I've never had any visible acne before apart from on the top of my forehead.

I thought acne started when you were young, not when you're nearly 20!?

My sympathys to you, i have some acne around the chin area, im 17 and its quite annoying i understand. I always think to myself, 'oh well, it will be gone in around less then 2 years' but then apparently you can get it way into your 20s now. Its really damaging to a persons self-confidence but there really is nothing you can do. Look at it this way, imagine yourself in 10 years time nearing 30 and never having to worry about it again.

Maybe see your GP? Compared to what many teenagers have to go through, adult acne is often a different kettle of fish.

Consult your GP, they often prescribe meds for mild cases on the basis of self-esteem (especially if you're young). I even know of roaccutane being proscribed for minimal spotting around the chin, just on the basis of self-esteem. Each case is different.

I have red marks all over my face, wouldn't quite say it's acne though, they were previousy spots that have stayed red for months.
I've just bought Neutrogena rapid clear treatment...apparently it's good. I'll see soon.

Join the club lol,i've only started getting 'proper' spots since i was 18,it's not acne, but pretty annoying since most of my friends had this when they were 15/16.

Could be early onset acne rosacea. I doubt it, but i'll send a wiki link just in case

I'm 18 and had acne for 3 years now. 2 years ago i was referred to hospital and eventually put on roaccutane, which at the time i thought was great, but all i can say is do NOT go on roaccutane unless it really effects you and is really that bad. The side effects are simply not worth it, maybe i'm biased as, although better than it used to be, i still have very bad acne. Also, a few spots on your chin.....let me tell you i would love for that !! I would love to just have a few spots rather than acne, it is a horrible thing and destroys, in my case, self confidence and self esteem alarmingly. But like i said i've had it for 3 years so i guess i just gotta deal with it...

Maybe it's your diet? Try changing what you're eating, such as more fruit and veg, and see if that helps.

I've personally never had acne rather just the occassional spot particularly when I've ben stuffing my face full of terrible food.

Well already things have cleared up a bit, my red marks have faded in colour too. I will have to see what happens over a longer period. But so far it's good!
