Ok thanks  How did you find that out by the way? Cool, I'll probably go up on the saturday with parents so I can show mum round because she's not been yet, and then say bye and move in on the sunday with everyone else
It said on one of the letters I got from my college.

I asked after I had accepted my offer to Durham if I could change from combined arts to just French and Russian, Despite having been told this would be possible at the open day, they said no in the reply as there is a 'quota' for each subject or some such. Doesn't make sense since surely the quota includes room for combined students on every module? I don't really want to do Combined as it means a compulsory module and then I wouldn't be able to do all the modules I wanted. I would laos have to take politics, intersting but I would rather do Russian culture - am I right in thinking I could not take five language modules? and also, what do you think the chance of me being able to change after results/on arrival is?

It says on the website for each course - I don't know if there's an easier way of finding out.

Hi, i created a thread on this but had limited replies so was wondering if any current students could advice me on what to do.

Its been a good few months since i firmed Durham for Criminology and this Wednesday i found out i've been selected to go on a cultural visit to China with the Prime minister's global fellowship. Its for 6 weeks: 23rd July - 6th September so evidently i shall miss results day. I'm afraid i'll miss all the letters and forms to fill in, which i assume, will have to be sent back in quick succession. Should i alert the university. Phone, email, letter?

The answer to that's a bit obvious, really. However you contact them doesn't matter so long as they sort something out.

I'd contact your college, rather than the Uni, so you may be better phoning so you can get put through to the right person.
I also wouldn't recommend sending emails because they are just really slow. You should probably talk to Ann Peart, she sorts out most of the stuff I think. I talked to her when I went to visit Durham anyway.

Strange question, but if I was to say I want to change course and get it sorted now, would it be too late? From Geography to geoscience. If anyone knows, would be very helpful.

That's quite a big change as it goes across depts and you wouldn't even be doing the same modules really. Why not just do geog with 2 geology modules per year?

It's like...a mixture of reasons including that I've missed the grades for geog, and that I'm now thinking I chose it instead of what I thought originally (geoscience) for the wrong reasons. It's been a long year.
I guess what I'm trying to ask is if changing courses now is even possible.
I think it is but you have to consider that Durham is usually rather slow in replying to emails so it might be easier to sort it out once you're there. I want to change from NatSci to Physics and the department hasn't gotten back to me yet :dontknow:
In any case, it can't hurt to ask.

If you're doing it to get in due to the lower grade boundaries, erm, I don't think they'll look very highly upon that..

Does anyone know who to email to get reading lists for Criminology (L370)? Thanks.
