A friend of mine has left, but she wasn't happy there from the beginning. She's moved to John's now and is much happier.

Do you know how she went about it?

Move from Hatfield to Castle . I wonder if anyone has ever done that?

You see we are not intimidated one bunch by them, its only 83 steps to heaven you know. :p:

A Mildertian friend of mine once said Aidan's steps were the greatest form of contraception ever!

Sorry to hear that you're thinking about moving Rachel! Hope wherever and if you can move that you'll be more comfortable/happy/whatever in your new place.

I'm not entirely sure, I know she spoke to someone at Hatfield, and then to someone at Johns. I could ask her if you like.

I have to say, I feel a slight sense of 'told you so' ness about it, 'cause I wasn't sure she'd be happy at Hatfield, and told her so. I think I may even have said that she'd be happier somewhere like John's.
Still, she's happy now and that's what matters (and has an oven, which I'm going to steal at some point)

That would be brilliant if you wouldn't mind .

Are you thinking about moving out yourself, and if so where to?

I'm not sure really... I've told myself that I'm going to give it until Christmas to try and settle in here (Butler) a bit better. Almost all of the friends that I have made are in other colleges or in their 2nd or 3rd year, and I've had to deal with some less-than-pleasant issues since I've got here, so I'm not entirely sure whether it really is Butler that's getting to me right now. Most of my first year friends are in Trevs, so if I did move, I'd probably enquire about going there.

You should at least investigate your options now, even if you are not going to take them yet. Personally I think if you are hating Butler after all this time you may as well get out as soon as, 8 weeks is long enough to figure out a place imo, and the longer you leave it the less time you have to get into the new college. Dont restrict yourself to Trevs in your search, ask about other colleges as well, most are pretty likeable. If you are intrested in Aidans (or just want to talk about it) feel free to drop me a PM.

"I spoke to the student support and admissions person at Hatfield and she suggested I go to John's and ask. They then contacted me when they thought they might have something available and it went from there."

That's from my friend.
Hope it helps

I hope so. I love the college, the place is amazing, but I have no friends here and I'd like somewhere more convenient to the science site. Plus my roommate has just left... I dunno. I thought this was the place for me, and I was determined to stick with it until the end of term, but I don't want to leave it too late so they say "just hang on til the end of the year", cause I'll *probably* be living out by next year.

What hill colleges would be likely to have spaces? Is it worth looking at them all? (although tbh I'm not that interested in Van Mildert... weird side of the road!)

Aidans might end up with a bunch when the Mary's lot leave (we might have a spare room or two now, though I am not sure). Mary's almost certainly would have nothing, the other colleges I dont know about. Give them all a call.

I realise it's an acquired taste :p:. but Butler has spaces for definite, I know of at least 2 people who have dropped out this weekend, and they leave spaces deliberately to allow for movement between flats.

Van Mildert probably does have spaces... and it's the same side of the road as Aidans!

Your best bet is probably just to ask the different colleges though.

I am pretty sure we don't actually. We have to house Erasmus students in what are normally guest rooms for this year, and there was talk of some interviewees being told they have to get accommodation elsewhere if more than a couple turned up at once

Still I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask.

EDIT: We do have Hatfielders living in our college at the moment, perhaps you could ask if there is a spare room up here. That way you might not have to move college.

Oh, I heard that they did from a girl in Van Hatfield (love it :p:), but that may have changed.

Might not be the best of ideas, they will probably hand out **** accommodation for being a hatfielder.

Well its livable, and guaranteed to be a single room, but is most certainly the worst block in college in terms of accomodation quality.

Aidans have done the same for the Mary's lot living in. Whats really harsh is they have to walk past the nice refurbished accomodation the Aidans people get everyday...

At least the Mary's people living in Aidan's are relatively near to Mary's, it must be a pain to have to go from Van Mildert to Hatfield for meals (although they don't have to do that for breakfast now, from what I understand).
I think they can have meals here if they want. I am sure I have seen a few pieces of hatfield stash being worn in the hall. It can't be just breakfast because I don't ever go to breakfast
