I applied to Hild Bede for combined honours in social scoences (history, sociology). Do you think it was a good choice? Regarding where my lectures will be held and also sport activities

Sports are at maiden castle and I think your lectures etc are at elvet riverside, they're both about a 10 minute walk from hild bede, and much closer than the hill colleges!
Anyone at Durham... What extra curricular did you have on your personal statement, and also, if interviewed what was it like? I want to study law and am considering applying to Durham

How would you describe the working ethic of Durham University?

Hard to say. People are different and so have different work ethics. As Durham is an extremely good university and one that requires very good grades, people who go here tend to be hardworking and intelligent people.

However, there is a range of work styles from last minute all nighters to methodical plodders who like to keep on top of things throughout.

As far as I am aware Durham does not interview for law still.

In regards to extra curriculars making sure you get across to the admissions tutors that yes you are hard working but at the same time will participate in wider university life; may that be through the arts, sport etc.

There isn't a golden extra curricular that you must have in order to get in. So long as you show them that you can work at a high level and be able to do other things with your time is the most important thing to show.

Hey! I'm also applying for biological sciences at Durham but have yet to receive a decision from them :frown: how on earth did you get such a low offer?! It's amazing!

I wouldn't panic! I didn't get my offer from Durham until March, and I'm now here in final year  The ABB offer is ridiculously low to be fair - mine was AAA - Good luck guys
People who live local and went to summer schools get lower offers.
First term over!
Durham is fantastic, couldn't recommend it more highly!

I'm at Chads, it's brilliant. Cathedral as I open my door every morning... a lovely friendly college. Staff/students are really nice, I love every day (well nearly!).

Physics course is terrific and I hear nothing but praise from those doing other subjects! Anyone wondering about applying to Durham... have no doubts, it's a terrific place/Uni/community.
I'm applying liberal arts with foundation
Did anyone applied and have been accepted?
Or did someone applied and have been accepted?
What grade did you got while applying?
I've reached their requirements...Just want to know what kind of grade is acceptable for this subject ? Because sometimes even you reached the limit, you might still failed the application..
In my country's high school I'm the top14%
I got 79.2 in average in the first two year of the semester.
IESTS score—L:7/S:6.5/R:7/W:5.5/Overall:6.5
The website mentioned the requirement is 6.0(no component under5.5)so it's enough...
Who knows those information I've mentioned above.....
What is the extra-curricular scene like for arts? Painting/life drawing etc. I couldn't really see much on the website .

There's Durham Art Society, which runs life drawing classes and more general sessions as well. There's also usually opportunities to get involved with those on a college level as well. I know that my college and certainly a few others have art societies/committees.
How long should I wait to get the offer??
Which way to Oxford please?

Fab thank you!
Hello! I recently received an offer for Classics and I'm investigating the offer holder open days, as I would like to book trains while there is a ticket sale. For Durham city campus they say there will be open days on the 21st-22nd March AND 22nd-23rd of March. Is it optional which day I attend or is this allocated based on college/subject/random choice?

When I went you were able to choose which days you wanted to go on. If you book train tickets just make sure you regularly check your email so when they send out the booking form you definitely get the days you want.

Ok that's brilliant - thank you!
I have a question - is Durham very Eton/Harrow/Westminster prone? Also, how many people do you know who are 'oxbridge rejects' lol
I have a question, too. When do Durham start giving out offers for law again? I am just wondering when I will hear something from them :frown: Sent off my application on 18th November  When should I expect a response. I know it is a really competative course, though.

Depends on the college, theres a lot at Hild Bede. Most students i'd say judging by when the lecturer brought up his daughter had a harder time studying natural sciences at Cambridge.
