How? I've just reaslised, I don't think I'm never going to have a Maiden Castle exam again (my last one was in 2006) . I don't have any exams at all next year
How? Big room, lots of people, and that bloke who shouts in a deep voice and takes everything very, very seriously. I can't relax at all in there. I much prefer being in a quiet little room in Elvet Riverside or something

Oh, I forgot about that guy lol I just hate noise so much that I find it hard to make a distinction between MC or a much smaller room. Which is odd.
I suppose it's been so long since I last had an exam there as well.
A lovely room in ER, especially ER2, would be ideal I agree.
I have one exam at Maiden Castle and that's French Language 4 which all my year have to take so that needs a big room. All my other exams are in ER1 or in the A rooms at the back of ER (secret office rooms )
It depends which subject you're applying for. As far as I'm aware the only department at Durham that has a GCSE A* consideration is History and I believe they say they are more likely to consider your application if you have 6+ A*s or above.
Hope that helps.
o darn i want to do history i have all C's and above, but no A*'s and only 1 A aww shawcks oh fudge

Well if you've got 3/4 A's at AS level, and are predicted A's at A level, and have a great personal statement, you may have a chance, just as long as you're aware that it's unlikely. You may as well go for it.

Quite honestly, although I refuse to accept that 6A*s is an absolute rule, it will definitely be close to an average. With only 1A at GCSE it is highly unlikely you will get in, even with all A's at A-level. History at Durham is just stupidly competitive. I would advise not even applying to be honest, if you really want to come to durham then choose a different subject. If you really want to do history, then choose somewhere else.
I am sorry if that's hard to accept, I am just trying to be honest.

"A number" (deliberately vague) of A*s including an A* in history is what they say so no A*s at all (including in history) and only one A then I'm sorry but you've got no real chance, diorbaby1687 (unless you can work your charm it may possibly be possible, very very small chance)
Come and do philosophy (you can do two history modules a year with it)
Okay, I've asked questions about the Theatre scene at Durham and got replies from very nice people But what I forgot to ask about was the actual quality of productions and the funding given to productions? I mean, how would you rate Theatre at Durham compared to..Oxford, let's say? And do you know of anyone hoping to pursue a career in theatre professionally after Durham? (a user here mentioned she knew someone who was going to apply to drama schools, but does anyone else know of similar people?) Thanks
