Hiya, I'm having some problems with the online enrolment system - I don't understand the module registration bit, it says I have to have some kind of form to be sent back? But then there's an option to send them an email?

It says you need to collect a form from your college when you get there, so you can't actually complete it until you get to uni (at least that's what it says for mine).

Third paragraph says:
"To complete module registration, you must first collect your module registration form from your College."

Yup, you get a shiny pink/red form that has to be signed off by your department and then you have to go to wherever SPA are stationed (was in CLC last year, it's huge with purple and lime green windows on the science site - you can't miss it!), who will give you a pretty green piece of card to say that you're a registered student. THEN you get to queue again to get your campus card. I'd recommend not rushing to do this, I did it at about 7 o'clock in the evening last year and didn't have to queue at all whereas those who rushed had to stand in line for 2-3 hours. You'll be doing a lot of queuing, enjoy it :p:.

But don't you have to do it as soon as possible, or the modules you want will fill up?

I'm worried! :-S

Only if they are capped and popular. What courses are you after?

I'm doing Psychology, and I'm really interested in the Memory and Language module and the Developmental Psychology module. But if no one can apply until we get there then it should be ok...

Um, you're a fresher, right? Those are level 2/3 modules, you can't study them in first year.

So what are the optional modules you apply for?
I don't know about your course, but not every course has optional modules in first year- there aren't any in first year music as far as I know. Have you checked the Faculty Handbook?

With psychology you have to do two modules in an outside department. These can be any first year open modules that fit your timetable.

So I could do something in Biology or English, for example?

If you have the necessary A Levels and it doesn't clash with your timetable then you should, in theory, be able to. Both departments will prioritise their students (inc. Combined or Joint Honours studends) over those taking their modules as electives though. For example, most of the History modules were already full last year before they opened them up as electives.

English - unlikely though I reckon sending a nice email to someone in the dept might help. Assuming you meet the prerequisites of course. Biology should be easier to get on to, again if you meet the prerequisites.

^ That module list is pretty old, though; it still lists several Theology modules that don't run anymore, so the other departments might be similarly out of date.
Hey I was wondering if any History student could post up or send me the lecture list and reading for this module: HIST1361: ENSLAVEMENT, EXCLUSION, ASSIMILATION: THE GREAT RACIAL DILEMMA IN NINETEENTH CENTURY AMERICA

I'm considering taking it as an elective alongside my 5 English modules.

thanks

I very much doubt that there will be spaces on that module for students wishing to take it as an elective. Last year the only Level One modules with spaces for non-History students were From Papyrus to Print, the module on Europe and possibly another which I can't remember. I know that loads of people in my year applied to take it (including myself), but weren't allocated it. Asides, lecture schedules and reading lists aren't handed out until the first lecture, and won't be available electronically until your modules show up on DUO.
Could people, particularly law students tell me what AS grades they got, if they filled them on their UCAS application form and if it is important the tutors make offers and is there any point in applying if you don't have A's at AS?

Thank you
Does anyone know what I should put into the term time address slot on the online enrollment page?
Can I put down the address of St cuthberts itself or do I have to wait until I receive my accommodation info?

Oh really..that sucks. I was hoping to take a history module. Would I face the same situation in every subject? The reason I asked for lecture lists and reading is because I received mine on DUO for my English modules...so assumed History freshers received theirs too.
