Hmm, what does 'U or C' and 'FTE' mean. Damn there are a lot of Geog applicants though...eeeek.

One assumes U or C means unconditional or conditional however FTE = :dontknow:

Full time education?

Your guess is as good as...

FTE = Full Time Equivalent

So when they talk about making 150 offers (say) , that may be to anywhere between 150 and 450 (extreme case) people, as some courses allow part time students on either half a year a year, or a third of a year a year.

Typically I think the numbers doing courses part time are small, but thats what they mean by FTE.

I'm not the world's biggest drinker or clubber, although I don't mind doing it every so often but I'm abit of a lightweight, are they many other social activities to do other that don't revolve around drinking, and what are good societies to join?

...and be aware that society socials tend to revolve entirely around alcohol (in my experience).

Hi, In the Licence agreement for Van Mildert, it says that we can't have kettles in our rooms. Am I reading this right?

You must not:

Keep or use in your Room electrical appliances such as kettles, toasters, irons, refrigerators, sandwich toasters, heaters, electric blankets (unless with the permission of the Bursar on receipt of appropriate medical evidence), disco equipment, Christmas fairy lights and cooking apparatus.

It's pretty clear, but I'd assumed that a small kettle would be fine.

Cheers
^They are scared of the circuits blowing I think. That said, you are unlikely to break anything with a small low power kettle, just make sure its low powered.

It's fine to keep a kettle, everybody does, don't worry. It's things like mini fridges and toasters which are more dangerous.
i think almost everyone in john's had a kettle in their room lol. i don't know how we would have survived otherwise!! i think kettles are the only thing really that you can get away with - depends how nice your cleaners are

I had a kettle, just station it away from the fire alarm (e.g under the window) and offer the cleaners a cup if they complain...

How far away is the nearest kettle anyway if you don't have one in your room?

I plan to nick bloody loads of those tiny milk portions you get at rubbishy cafes and take them up for my cups of tea. Mmmm tea.

Kettle will be in the kitchen, in most colleges they are not far away. You know that you can bulk buy those milk things.

Oh, and you are wrong about Jobo. Hot drinks fail to fully quench thirst.
