I will cope with kitchen kettle then as I'd hate to have mine confiscated haha. And I don't care if you can buy them, you can get them FREE at cafes.

Plus tea is a godly drink and you are Jobo are WRONG.

Just hide your kettle in the cupboard whenever the cleaners show, they tell you which day they are coming so its not a problem. Bulk buying milk is more convienient, I tend to stock loads of cartons of soya milk in my room just to save me farting about.

Tea + all the cider and coke I drink would finish my mouth off I fear. I dont need more stuff to drink/ get slightly addicted to.

Real milk FTW! I can't stand that UHT stuff or soya stuff, especially not in tea

Real milk involves trotting to the shop twice a week to fetch it. Not worth it, especially if you dont drink the hot stuff.

Powdered milk is scanky too :frown: Wish I could have real milk all the time instead.

You can quite easily, if you make a 5 min walk into town now and then. Unless of course your college doesnt have fridges in rooms...

Reply 1166

Yeah well some colleges are cool enough without fridges...

Reply 1167

I hope you have packed lots of jumpers for Durham then...

Reply 1168

I will pack them... not quite packed yet

There should be fridges in the communal kitchens where you can keep milk. Make sure you surround it with barbed wire, though, mine was forever getting nicked.

You could try the Mary's trick of hanging them out the window (admittedly this was before they got fridges...)

I did for a while, but my room in first year was west-facing, so I got an awful lot of sun towards the end of the day, which did not make my milk happy.

Ah well, never again!

Ah yes, I remember once leaving a bottle of milk out on my window ledge, over a particularly bitter january night.

It didn't freeze solid, rather became more like a slush puppy.

Does anyone have any pictures of the different types of rooms at castle? I heard they're pretty variable...

Reply 1178

This probably gets asked a lot, but generally how many societies/ sports teams do people join in their first year?

Completely depends on the type of person you are, and how much time you have.

IMO there's too many societies, and not enough time :frown:
