From Cook Mews, your nearest is probably the Sainsburys in the precinct, followed closely by the Tesco Metro. There's also an Iceland, a Somerfield and a Co-op on Sidwell St (walk towards Debenhams on the High Street and keep going). If you want to go a bit further out, I believe there are bus services that will take you to the big Tescos and Sainsburys from town.

It's not far at all - 15 mins each way, tops.

Reply 9

hiya...im more the lazy type so the bus is VERY appealing...would you happen to know how much bus fare is and if there is the possibility of a weekly or monthly bus pass?

thnks a bunch

You can definitely get a weekly/monthly bus pass but not sure how much they are as I've never bought one.
As it is the buses in Exeter are quite expensive as the council has to subsidise all of the pensioners' bus fares, and the sheer number of pensioners means that everyone else (including students - there's no special rate) loses out. I think when I arrived a single ticket was 65p and when I left it was 85p one way. A return when I arrived was £1.20 (think so) and when I left it was more like £1.50.
Seriously, though, from campus you don't really need to get the bus there as it's not far AT ALL - on the way back, though, with a load of heavy shopping bags, is a different matter :p:

edit: crap, just realised you weren't asking about the buses from campus to town, so ignore all of the above if you live in Cook Mews :p:
I don't know how much the buses are to the big Sainsbury's and Tesco's as I've never taken them. Ditto the weekly/monthly passes bit. If you do a bit of sleuthing on www.xnet.ex.ac.uk/forums there are people there who have been in Exeter longer than I have who probably have done and will be able to tell you
