Bringing your own duvet??

Hello
I was wondering how many people are planning on bringing their own duvet and pillow to halls?
And also, a question for 2nd or 3rd years, what happens to the University ones if you bring your own? Do you have to keep them in your room getting in your way, or can you give it back to the cleaners or accommodation office?
I'm staying in Lafrowda, if this helps!
Thanks very much

I don't know many people who bothered with their own bedding. The uni bedding is usually perfectly adequate and has been washed between students. Plus, you'll be putting your own clean duvet covers etc on top of the bedding anyway. It just takes up more space in the car to bring your own and I'd say it's largely unnecessary. I brought one extra pillow, because I like to have 2 but the uni only gives you one.
There should be room in your wardrobe or under your bed to store the uni bedding if you do bring your own - I don't think there's a drop-off point for that stuff if you don't want to use it.
Hope that helps

Thank you so much Angelil, you're always so helpful!!
If the bedding is fine at Uni, I think I'll leave my own at home anyway, cos I've got a throw for my bed, and a big French pillow from my Gran which I'll bring, so that should be plenty in terms of comfort and warmth
And I'll need my duvet at home for when I come back for visits, didnt even think about that! It would be a bit of a pain carting it back and forward on the train!
I was just really concerned about having another thing to find a place for in my room, I have sooooo much stuff already! Mainly concerned about kitchen storage space! If 12 people have bought the same amount of pots pans and utensils as me, theres gonna be a huge ceiling high pile of stuff that doesnt fit in the cupboards heehee

I'm taking my own, simply because I can't sleep with feather duvets - they make me sneeze. S*d's law would be that I'll get there and realise that the uni duvets are polyfibre, but hell I can't be bothered to risk it.

I'm pretty sure they're not feather duvets (seems a bit extravagant for Exeter university :p: ) so you should be safe there. You might want to ring up and check though.

i thought the uni duvets were pretty rubbish at keeping you warm, and also very thin, but i guess thats just my opinion. i brought my own one down from the very beginning, as did a lot of other people i know (more girls tend to bother with this than boys...). as for keeping the uni ones, i put it underneath my sheet to make the bed comfier and warmer. they're also handy to keep under your bed for when you have friends coming to stay...

I took mine, just because it made it feel a bit more like home, haha. I kept the uni one in a binbag underneath my bed.

Uni duvets are too small and thin and stiff and cold. They might be better in the more expensive accomodatio I dunno. But I suggest bringing your own.
To save it getting in the way, I put the uni one under the bed sheet for extra squidgy comfortness  Highly recommend it

Im bringing my own, simply because I get very cold very easily - last night I was cold with 2 duvets, and it gives me an extra duvet to get snuggly with when Im cold etc. Im also bringing 2 pillows because I need lots of pillows to sleep on, else I can't breath and can end up having asthma attacks...

im bringing my own duvet too. mainly cos i went out and bought one before it told me that they provided it. it's always good to have one for when friends come to stay
I'm bringing my own because a) I'm allergic to some bedding so I have to be careful what I use and b) I get cold ridiculously quickly. I have two duvets and a blanket on my bed right now!

Does anyone know if i'd be allowed to bring an electric blanky? Coz I get really cold so I thot that mite help. (im in self-catered (JOC) by the by)

I have a feeling you're not allowed electric blankets because they're a fire hazard, but I'm not 100% about that so check your accommodation contract.

Oh no, I don't mean to start a panic, I asked for it to be changed! It's vvvv complicated but ultimately for the best
