I've been working during the holidays (and will continue during term time when I start back in yr 13). I've just got my first payslip - and 21% has been taken in tax. Do I have to pay tax? I thought that since I'm in full time education I didnt have to pay?

Any help would be greatly appreciated - as well as any links.

No you dont. Some employers are really awkward when it comes to tax and rather than arrange your details/contract in a way which ensures you pay no tax they do it in a roundabout way which means you still have it taken off you and have to reclaim it at the end of the financial year. On the plus side it means youl get a nice big wad of money when april comes about.

you should be able to get a tax releif form from your employer which you can fill out to claim the tax that you've already paid. it will also stop you from having to pay tax in the future
