What is the difference between hard engineering and soft engineering?
Hard engineering involves building man-man structures in order to stop or reduce natural processes such as coastal erosion. Soft engineering involves working with the natural environment, to minimise the impact on the envionment. Examples of hard engineering include sea walls, groynes, and revetments, whereas examples of soft engineering include beach nourishment and managed retreat.

I hope this helps answer your question
