Hey, has anyone applied to do a joint art degree at Reading like Art and English lit or Art and Psychology (like me)? What offers did you guys get?
Hi!
Excellent to hear that you have applied to Reading!
In case you haven't seen this already, the typical offer for Art and Psychology is AAA - AAB. If you have any questions about being at university, Reading or anything else then feel free to ask us!

Hi Sophia,
That's really great that you are interested in the course at Reading! One of my friends currently studies this course and she seems to enjoy it as she gets to do a mix of both of the subjects she likes.
One of the student ambassadors studies Psychology so let me see if he has any information on this course for you!
Just to let you know that we have University open days coming up on the 16th and 17th June which would be a great opportunity for you to see the department, meet some students and learn about a joint honours degree if you are intetested! They are a great way to get a feel for the university.

Hi Sofia,
I am currently studying the Applied Psychology (Msci) course, however I can give you some insight into the Art and Psychology course. This four-year course, offers a good 50/50 split between studying and developing art and studying psychology. Meaning that you are able to develop both your skills as an artist through developing your practical and professional skills, codes of practice and develop techniques associated with this, alongside developing your skills in psychology.
This course, is also accredited by the British Psychology Society, meaning that it will enable you access chartered status (allowing you to develop further in Psychology) easier, without further psychology conversion courses. - Accessing this status in the same way that normal psychology students would!
In terms of the way the course is split, each year (at this time) you are expected to complete around 50% of your modules within Art and the other 50% in Psychology, with the addition of an extra year (Year 4) to allow you to complete a project in psychology whilst keeping up your artist project work and development.
Overall this is a perfect course for someone who is interested in developing their artistic skills, as well as studying psychology, and especially those who may decide to combine the two later in life through Art Therapy. However, it can also open a number of other career paths too!
I'm going into my second year of college soon and I'm doing a UAL Extended Diploma in Art and Design, and I really want to do this course. I don't know if I'll even be considered though without any Psychology knowledge

Hello!
Thank you for your question about the Art and Psychology course - it is really great that you are interested. I have heard great feedback from my friends who seem to really enjoy the course!
In terms of admissions, this isn't something I could really answer so I would suggest getting in touch with the department directly as they will be able to help you with this. Ask a question on the University portal: https://www.reading.ac.uk/forms/crm/question.aspx.
