MA Games Art and Design at Hertfordshire - Who's applying and what can we expect?

Hello everyone! My name's Charlotte and I'm currently in the process of sending my application for the MA Games Art and Design course at Hertfordshire (just waiting for confirmation of my academic referrals), and was wondering who else was also applying!

I'm in my final year studying a BA (Hons) in Games Art and Design at Norwich University of the Arts and was also wondering if anyone could tell me about the course itself or the university!

My main concern is specialisation and if that's the main focus of this MA, since I have already gained previous knowledge of 3D packages and games engines such as Maya, zBrush and Unreal for example - and would like to be specialising in Concept Art and illustration itself. I know there's a heavy influence on 3D and animation for this course, but I was also wondering if this would be possible.

Looking forward to the responses!

Hey Charlotte,

Thanks for getting in touch!

I've passed this on to our Programme Leader for Animation, so I'll let you know what he says!

Feel free to get in touch with any other questions

Kind regards,

Rhianna

Hi Charlotte!

I've been in touch with our Postgraduate Coordinator, and he said:

"Hi Charlotte,

Yes we are very happy for students to specialise - every year, we actually have one or two students who specialise in concept art, while others train as generalists if that is what they want.

The course has no set syllabus; students are supported in becoming experts in their own area of interest."

Hope this helps! The course is led by experts who will shape your teaching and learning around your ambitions and interests, so it's a good chance to mould a course to build your ideal skillset for the career you want.

Feel free to get in touch with any other questions!

Kind regards,

Rhianna
