Wow, and here I was thinking that Durham applicants were anxious.

Nope. Clearly we're repressed and should talk more about our feelings.

Thank you everyone.
cheerios - I applied to Oxford (magdalen) and was rejected after interviews; York - I received an unconditional offer, Edinburgh I was rejected by, UCL I've had an interview but not heard from and Durham.. well we will see I suppose.
Where else did you apply?
English does seem to be bloody competitive!!!

Whaaaat? People actually do that? So not a good sign.
Those people are a minority though right?

Majority of people enjoy getting smashed, socialising, chatting in rooms etc?

Yeah, there is a small minority which mainly got put on my corridor. I was just unlucky...
Does anyone know vaguely what time aes updates at?

I'd like to get some of my life back so dont want to be sat here checking every 15 minutes as i do at the moment!

Sorry if its been asked before!

Its got nothing to do with me not wanting to be sociable, the only way I am going to get through the first few days is being as outgoing as I can! Its just that I want it to be MY room, where I feel comfortable. I wont feel that if I have to share, and I know what sharing with someone you dont know feels, I hate it.
I just DONT want to share.

forgive me for saying so, but that sounds quite immature and selfish. It isn't the end of the world.

That's the trouble with choosing the best subject

(The original thread was merged with this one while I was replying...that was confusing...)

I can understand your point, i'm not sure how comfortable i'd be with the potential situation either, but on the other hand - you never know, the person you have to share with might turn out to be a really nice person! You'll both be in the same situation (away from home, need to make new friends, worried about sharing a room) so you'll probably have a lot to talk about. You'll also probably be to work something out between you so that you can each have some "alone time" if you want it (and if they dont agree to it then at least you'll have the time when they're out and you're not). Plus i'm sure if there are any major problems the college will be able to help you out. I think its quite a plus really, you get the perfect chance to make a new friend! Plus i'm really jealous that you have an offer and i dont grrrrr so if you want to switch...... :P
ARGHHH!!

Rang the english department and they said that a decision has been made but it dosnt come up on the screen whether its an acceptance or rejection and my AES track still says with the department so am i right to assume its a rejection :s-smilie::s-smilie::s-smilie:

They said i should get a letter this weekend or early next week

Speculation will only lead to you worrying. Maybe you could check UCAS. Since apparently the update is done in real time. Half an hour left for UCAS to stop updating for the day. Which college did you apply to anyway?

Edit: The AES track is not updated regularly. Trust me on this. It said that mine was still in the department for a couple of days, even though I had already received my offer.

--- Is that actually true? That if it hasn't been received by the college it means you've been rejected? Did the Durham people say that?
I really hope you're wrong :frown: alot ...
If I'm made an offer and have to share my room -I don't mind, actually I first imagined that I'd have to share a room with someone at the uni, lol- I just want that person not to be a maths, bio, physics or other sciences student, lol. I finally got rid of sciences and maths, I just don't want to see an equation somewhere XD. However, a student reading French could be lot of fun ^^.

Well, this is the third time I type a message and can't explain myself correctly, so I give up and will just say that I don't think it's true

No, that's not what that means. BUT in that scenario you might come to that conclusion because if a decision has been made but it hasn't been received by the college, it could be a rejection. However, track is notoriously under-updated. And furthermore, unless you've called them up, you don't know if a decision has been made or not - it only applies to that specific case.
another day...and no response... :frown:

*sigh*. Not sent to college. Worried by previous posts. Fed up of waiting.

well yes, and I don't particularly want to bother them as if everyone phoned in they would surely be inundated with calls. However I am now even more terrified that they may have made a decision (and that it is a rejection) i.e. if the scenario applies to me too. I suppose I should just wait.
