taemon - i forgot!
kiwibaby - Anthropology - SENT TO COLLEGE
WokSz - Comp Sci (Hatfield)
Me- Eng lit & Philosophy (St Mary's)

and many more out there i am sure. . . ah nothing in the post today.

I didn't know you had applied for St Mary's! I think i'm switching to that college, well i e-mailed the admissions office there and they said they had room for English students (as in the Q300 course not + philosophy) so i just need to decide and confirm.

Oh and if it's any help at all my friend got rejected for Eng lit + Philosophy about a week or two ago so they have been making decisions and they're obviously still considering you!

Hey you know what ? In my stupid dream, I dreamt that I needed to get AAA AND to find the admission staff a horse, lol, I'd like to know why, lol...

And about literature, I'm currently studying Macbeth in early Modern English, so I think Boule de Suif is not as hard as Macbeth, lol. And of course, in my "normal" literature class, I'm studying Romeo & Juliet, lol, great, Shakespeare FTW !

yes but you are fluent in English, hmmmm or else you are using google translate. handy job:biggrin:
maupassant is a fine french writer.
will you go to manchester or rennes?
Ahah, lol, Google is crap, I'm (almost) fluent in English. BUT, English is NOT Early Modern English, lol, so I'm a bit fed up by all these "thou" and "thee" ^^.

And I'll probably put Manchester as my Firm and Exeter as Insurance. No way I study in Rennes ... But I just need help to convince myself that these will be great place and that I won't miss anything (like these cool formal dinners) from Durham, or that I won't regret not to have been able to choose this great "Introduction to Middle East Politics" modules ...

Oh crap, I'm crying. I suck, lol, I should be happy to get offers from UK unis to study what I want and that I'll not be obliged to stay in France like everybody else ...

Dont worry manchester is a brilliant city. I go there quite alot and am sure you will love it. There is so much to do and if you want formal dinners then some of the more traditional accomdation does offer it.

damn rights. its blooming rideeeculous. What are you sitting on out of 300 after AS?

Um.. 296

Oh, and don't worry Anatheme - I got just as fed as you with all the early English. That's a good plus with French literature - the French language hasn't change quite so much over time as English!

Wasn't interviewed by Cambridge (My referee hadn't put my predicted grades ...), and studies in France is so **** you can't even imagine, lol. Plus I'd never try Science-Po as a French student, it is just suicide. If you're lucky enough, you can pay a preparation to the exam, but most people fail it. I don't want to fail this way. Plus I'm not that interested by Politics and Economics. Just like the fact you can study it when you're doing a language degree, but I wouldn't like to study these subjects only.

[Well basically, I think it is even harder to get into Science-Po as a French student that getting into Oxbridge.]

Really ??? Which ones ? I know it is stupid but a part of my uni dream was formal dinners, lol. I just feel so stupid to be sad when I have everything to be happy, lol, I hate irrationality ...

To get into it is suicide, lol. It is great actually, but it is not a real university as Rennes or La Sorbonne are, it is a sort of school where you study only Politics, Economics, History and that kind of thing.

Oh, and what degree will (are) you read(ing) ?

I will be reading European Studies, I will choose French as the main language to study, so that involves studying it's history and they say they expect fluency after the year abroad. Is sciences po very prestigious and much sought after?
I see on your profile it says you can help with frenhc orals, thats no use becuase i need a miracle.
AHAH, History !!!
Do you know the program ? I hope for you you won't have to know the program I'm currently studying, it is just soooooo long, lol.

And yes, Science-Po is extremely prestigious (in France at least).
OK guys.... i dont know whether to get excited or not..... but i just got an email from Durham asking me to fill in some forms about my fee status.

When i got this from Keele, two days later i got an offer.... so does this mean an offer is coming?

My college advisor told me they dont bother with all that paperwork if they're not about to make an offer.... but then again my college advisor said a lot of things that turned out to be *******s.....

Oooooooh. I think that there is a definite possibility that an offer will be made. They obviously won't care if the department isn't planning on making an offer. The possibility is there. Be cautious with it though. But I am excited for you. Who knows maybe in 1 hour you will see a nice big conditional in UCAS.

Anatheme have you e-mailed to ask why you were rejected? It might give you some closure :frown: I would advise it. I can't believe they'd chose a boring person over you. But Manchester is amazing so you'll have a wicked time there, plus there will probs be more international students than Durham and it'll give a better sense of English life than a tiny ex-mining city. Ohhh I want them to change their mind though. Such a legend :frown:

And swiss_fairy that does sound promising *keeping fingers crossed*
Yeaaaaaah Amy, I really really really hope you'll get your offer !!!

Reblet : I did yesterday and I'm waiting for an answer ^^.
