I would, but my dinner is ready lol de.novo being the good chappy he is will be delighted to enlighten you, if not I suggest you refer to about page 100 or so of this thread.
thats 1 almighty CV, you must be annoyed you didn't get cam nicola and jesus even warwick, but there admssions policy seems weird.
Aw thanks, its funny you noticed because i forgot to untick the 'show your signature' box that time! Was a bit about cam at first but im over it - they'll regret it when im rich and famous bit confused about warwick though, i didn't get an interview so it can't even be on the grounds of my oh so awful personality
Where have you applied? (sorry to everyone else who already knows the ins-and-outs of kevsters life )
Correct me if I'm wrong kevster. But do you want swiss_fairy to get in so that you can say that they clearly take in people who have LNAT scores lower than 20? And that your friend was not rejected due to the 'low' LNAT score of 20 which was their feedback, but because he is Irish and that Durham is racist? Something tells me that is the reason. Is it?
Hahahahahhahahahahaha oh right ok....
But Kevster, if i get in... i have Irish blood! AND i go to an international school... doesnt that ruin the theory....?

well actually they dont, I havent really given too much away about where I applied, mind you I fooled De.novo ino thinking that I was awaiting a response from Durham for politics. Im a reject of Oxford and Bristol, I accepted the Oxford verdict but was very disappointed to get the 'unsuccessful' from Bristol even though its a pretty competetive course. I take it you'll settle for Durham or will you give the whole Cambridge thing another crack of the whip. How was your interview>? English seems bloody competetive especially at Durham. Reblet will tell you all about that.
Maybe the international school aspect helped Marion. I'm not sure. But the racist theory from kevster, I wonder whether it is limited to the Irish or all races. Because if it is the latter, I can disprove that as well.
And yes kevster, you fooled me for a minute that you applied to Durham when I was so sure that you hadn't applied. That was mean. Got me all excited envisioning actual arguments between you and HMK unfolding before my eyes.

Nope i'm all set for Durham, it was my second choice (close second, after Cambridge) so i'm very happy I never actually wanted to go to Warwick that much, it was just a slap in the face to be rejected without interview tbh. ( How dare they!?) Haha cam interview... the written test was okish, or so i thought, the first interview was really awful, and in the second interview i had a lovely chat with the tutor and it went really well, unfortunately it obviously wasn't enough to swing it
YES IT DOES!!!!!MY SCIENTIFIC THEORY WILL THUS HAVE BEEN DISPROVED!! DAMN YOU SWISS FAIRYY!!!!
Irish blood? how?explain?
Maybe your friend who didnt get in.... just didnt have what they were looking for? We had an admissions person come and talk to us (cant remember what uni they were from... it was a pretty boring talk) and he said that a lot of the time they have applicants who meet all the acedemic requirements but there are just TOO many people who are good so instead they have to look at the reference and personal statement and decide if they think the person would fit in at the uni.... in other words (as he said) it sometimes just comes down to if they like your personality or not. If this was the case with your friend i'm sure it was much easier to say "your LNAT wasnt good enough" rather than "we just dont like you". I find it really difficult to believe that they're against the Irish.... especially since when i told my friend who has applied to Law at Durham about your theory he commented that a woman he spoke to on the phone at Durham the other day was in fact Irish....
Now the Irish blood..... I am a sixteenth Irish! My Dad is an eigth Irish, his Dad was a quarter Irish, his mum was half Irish and her Father was a full blown Irish man who moved to England during the potato famine (i think.... im actually just guessing at that bit, but the rest is true)... So my great great grandfather was Irish!
Probably. Last time I looked Durham accepted ABC from internationals for law. A fair while back but home students were required AAA.
I realise that international students are offered lower grades. But this is something that has been done by all the top universities, except for Oxbridge, at one point or another. The practice of offering lower grades is being decreased as the years go by. And they wouldn't print something like that in their prospectus. It wouldn't make them look very professional. And not many are handed out nowadays, especially for competitive subjects like English, Law, History etc. Durham or any other respectable university wouldn't want to slip in the rankings and want to maintain their standards.
Edit: Marion/Anatheme was referring to being enrolled in an international school by the way. Not, being considered as an international student.
OK guys.... i dont know whether to get excited or not..... but i just got an email from Durham asking me to fill in some forms about my fee status.
When i got this from Keele, two days later i got an offer.... so does this mean an offer is coming?
My college advisor told me they dont bother with all that paperwork if they're not about to make an offer.... but then again my college advisor said a lot of things that turned out to be *******s.....
I got that email too! Stupid paperwork... Mum thought it would be a fantastic idea to ask them if I can be considered a national student even though I'm international (long story but basically she's unhappy that I have to pay triple the fees because I haven't lived in the EU for the LAST 3 years - only the 4 before that...) and so I'm getting nervous over the fact that I haven't heard from them in like a month I hope I didn't piss them off!!
Good luck though - I'm going to find and reply to your comment to me later on in the thread now
My love, if you've been sent to college - you have a place! I'm very very jealous! But yeh, i've been told that once its gone to college you're in!
And 40 IB points...... how did you manage that? Do you have any tips? Which subjects did you do?
Sorry for all the questions - i'm just very jealous!
I basically just shut myself up in a room, worked my butt off and went without any social life whatsoever for a year!
So the most valuable advice I can give you is to NOT STRESS about it. Yes IB is a very hard course and you have to put in the work to get the results, but make sure that you make time to do other things as well because when you're relaxed you're more likely to do well in your studies! Sorry that sounds a little cheesy I'm speaking from experience though - in the lead up to exams I got so run down that I had to basically take a month off from life when they finished, and I lost a lot of weight from stress which may sound great but when you become normal again it all comes right back haha (oh and I suppose it's unhealthy too )
I hope people don't get annoyed that I'm taking up the whole forum but the subjects I did were English HL French HL Biology HL Maths SL German SL and Classical Studies SL. Quite an easy combination really, and I anticipated Maths so I only sat 5 subjects at the end of last year! I was actually slightly annoyed with my final score because I lost 2 points from TOK and extended essay. They really are not worth all the hours of work they take to complete...
^ Thank you! I really appreciate it. I know i need to just get down to it now, lock myself away and not leave until i'm ready to pass the exams.... and i will do once i know if i'm working for Durham (eg stupid amount of points) or Sheffield (33 points).
I was thinking this morning (shocking i know!) the email i got yesterday asked me to respond by April 4th or they would just class me as overseas.... that obviously means they're not planning on meeting the 31st deadline for everyone..... hopefully since i got back to them on the same day (woo for scanners!) they'll deal with mine a bit sooner.... perhaps?
