Hahahaha, that video is hilarious. Seriously, I know both Laura and Lee in the real world and neither of them is that weird and stilted in reality! The gaze of a camera does very funny things to people (especially if the result is probably going to be shown to all the senior staff!).

That's good to hear! The best part was "Pick Grey. Grey all the way". That really took the cake given the 'enthusiasm' it was delivered with.

Yeap, we're neighbour colleges. Will you be confirming your place in Durham, or will the pull of LSE be too strong to resist in the event of an offer?

Yeah i'll be confirming Durham even if i get an offer from LSE - i'll put LSE as insurance if that happens though, but i dont think i'll have problems with that  x

HMK: Durham have so far failed to provide a specific reason for my rejection. That doesn't really support your theory that there were critical flaws in my PS.

It's very rare that any university will give an honest specific reason for rejecting someone. They simply have so many applications for so few places. It's a bit of a lottery really. The academics also have other things to do. For History there are around 20 applicants per place. They can't reply with a specific reason to everyone they reject!
or they can just be men and speak the truth i.e 'You were born in ireland, that is why'

Lol, they must have had something like 3 applicants per place for Russian/Arabic XD. Pfff, I'm gutted, lol. I hope they'll at least give me a *pretty* good reason, lol. Or that my dreams were prophetic and that they'll reconsider me !

I basically hate Paris, lol. Just too much pollution and I hate the people there
And I moving on. Just give me some time to accept it, lol.
NAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH i want to hear!!!!!

The guy i had to email my fee form to... he's away until April 2nd.... do you think that means i wont hear anything till after April 2nd?

They could at least send it to a college while they wait to decide if i'm home, EU or overseas (keele and sheffield have classed me as home)

ARGHHH!!!
Why would they bother making a special effort to write you a nice letter? Academics have other things to be getting along with, you know...
Firstly, I don't know what you mean by 'nice letter'; I would have been happy with an email seeing as that's how I contacted them. In fact, they did give me a reply, but it was just the standard boilerplate response. However, I don't see how it is unreasonable to expect some kind of stated reason for the rejection, especially if there were 'critical flaws' in my personal statement as you claimed.

Also, you say that this would have been a waste of their time. Not so - it is their official role to be responsible for admissions, and hence this comes with the territory. University admission has a great impact on the future course of an applicant's life, and, more importantly, universities are publically funded institutions, so I think it's quite fair to expect some sort of accountability for these decisions.

Finally, I can't find any admissions statistics for Durham. Are there none available on the internet?
