I secretly love the French... but you can't admit that without people getting all defensive about how great Britain is...

But the fooood! And the accent! And the literature and philosphy and wit! And the countryside... the WINE... The people aren't too bad either

But the music is pretty dire :frown:

French rap. Enough said.
There is nothing to get, lol, they just keep saying "Allez les bleus !" (it was for some random football cup or something like that ^^). But honestly, I love Swiss French accent, lol, just great !

Swiss German is the best. It's a harsh dialect, but very interesting once you start to get the idea.

You're online late! (But so am i - just going to bed to do some revision now).

It is harsh and it changes from Canton to Canton (eg i can understand some Basler Deutsche but not much Zuricher Deutscher) but its also quite pretty in an odd way. I'm still waiting for that moment when i go "I GET IT".... hence im doing ab initio germand!

How come you know Swiss German?

I live in Switzerland and my Dad is from Zug.

French cuisine is overrated and is perceived as great because most people have a sweet tooth. Try Italian! Accent is alright, think I prefer a Texan on a girl though. :p: As for countryside, try Canada.

For me Italy is my favourite all-round European nation (history, hotties, food, language, art, fashion, scenery... Love it...) but France comes a fairly close second.

I have to go with Italy as well for my all-round favourite European nation. Then maybe France. Or Greece.

I like that most of us haven't shared our names. I look forward to the day when on the streets of Durham, students run about screaming, "Reblet! swiss_fairy! de.novo! WAIT UP!" Poor Durham locals. Or maybe they are already used to the eccentricities of us students.

And for swiss_fairy. QUACK! I refuse to chase ducks. They might turn against me and try to attack me as a flock. And thanks for the rep.
Italy is better than France. I've lived in both so I can say :p:
France is cool generally, just not Limoges. :p:
In Italy whenever I spoke to anyone they loved that i was trying, even though i was crap at first. In France I would often ask something in French and get a smarmy response in English - it was so frustrating !
Also, italian food is just :coma: Can't beat a steak-frites in France though.

Omg Durham.

Hurry up and give swiss_fairy an offer!

Oh and in case anyone is interested, my name is Francine  and and I'm doing Camp America in June!!! I get to be a camp counsellor for a few months and travel through the USA - yay. I'm sooo excited! (I've pretty much run out of people to tell here so I'm having to resort to telling people I don't actually know haha)
None of us actually sleep anu more do we?!?!

Quack - i saw ducks on my pond on the way to school but the bf dragged me away from talking to them :frown:

Argh g2g i'm at school :frown::frown:

I saw some ducks talking in an advert yesterday for home insurance or something, which made me think of you swiss_fairy!!

Hope you all hear about your applications soon, and I hope they're all fantastic offers! Its SO CRUEL making you wait this long! I'd be in a loony bin by now....

Camp America sounds cool KiwiBaby! I'd love to do something like that. So far I am doing NOTHING constructive this holiday so Im searching for a job to start after my exams. Going to need one considering the rent at Grey is 140 quid a week!

I love that idea, Durham students running around calling each other by our TSR names. People would be so confused....
