Congrats to you friend Izzy! She'll be there for matriculation with the rest of us I believe. So in a way we will know her, cause we'll see her among the masses? Am I making sense or have I gone delirious?

And yes Fiona! This will indeed be my only birthday during term time. I checked. But it's ok because you will have the next three at Durham. Living vicariously. :biggrin:


Ahh, matriculation... It's a rather cool experience. Walking in to Durham Cathedral (as Bill Bryson says, if you haven't seen it, go! Just Go! Seriously, it's beautiful) with your college. And the speech, and everything. :love:

Hi! And yes I did teach today. And I had the most evil class of all. I see them everyday actually. :frown: I am beginning to crack. I think the next time I'l just send them down to the discipline master. Can't be bothered anymore.

:laugh: I also thought that sounded rather strange. Where are you teaching? I've come to hate small children. Well not the really little ones, i'm seeing my 7yr old reading partner tomorrow :smile: since i started helping him his average reading age has gone up by about 2yrs! He's such a clever little boy :cool: I don't think i could do primary school teaching though.

Lol. He's in charge of the prefects. But that is not his position. I kept hearing the word discipline when he was speaking during the new teachers induction. But I wasn't really paying attention. I got the gist of what the induction was. I think.

Woww I didn't really understand the matriculation thing until I read that link to the Durham page. Sounds fun!!! I'm such a sucker for traditional ceremonies :smile:

Does Collingwood wear academic gowns though? I kind of doubt it because they don't have gowns at formals... Bum!

Oh oh and I have a question - are you allowed to go to another college's formal dinner? And if you do but don't have a gown because your college doesn't wear them, do you have to borrow someone else's gown? Ah all these questions. Maybe I shouldn't be asking on the applicants thread :p:

Maybe they've forgotten about me?

I am a carpet after all.

I realised, if they wait until the final deadline (may 6th) i will be in the second day of exams which means 1) i wont be able to celebrate properly and 2) i potentially wont have been making enough of an effort in my exams to get the points i need (because to get the typical points i'm going to need to work flat out and possibly give myself another nervous breakdown :s-smilie:)

That was just unnecessary. You do not know the circumstances of her situation. And you're not part of the Durham Law admissions department. So making baseless statements is not only redundant but makes you look rather foolish.
